For several years I have been drawn to sumi ink in my exploration of space and form/ ambience and energy. I paint night/ low light images as a means to enter that subtle arena where the eye and psyche meet. I use texture and wash techniques to create subtle inner landscapes. A viewer must slow their eye to look into the painting. My work allows many to experience a meditative state as forms and images emerge.

I have done artwork all my life, with periods of silence. Although often painful, silence allows creativity a space to emerge. I find inspiration in the change of seasons and simple natural images, often observed while commuting on New Jersey roadways.

In addition to sumi ink, I also paint with acrylics. I like to experiment in the three-dimensional realm with natural materials and objects found in my environment, creating outdoor installations and other assemblages. I have always loved drawing the figure.

I am thankful for the support of family and loved ones, and for all the opportunities I have had.

This morning, leaving late

A nice sense of quietness -

A chill, with bird song
